The Hong Kong government estimates that there are over 9,000* abortions every year. On average, that is 24 per day, or 1 per hour. If it were any other cause, we would consider this a serious problem. Is abortion worth our attention?

*This number does not include undocumented chemical abortions, or abortions in illegal clinics, or abortions in Shenzhen. So Hong Kong’s true number of abortions is certainly much higher than the government estimate.
